How We Actually Test A Game Before Reviewing It

People sometimes ask why our reviews come out slower than the app's launch day. The short answer is that we don't publish anything we haven't lived with for a while.

Our process starts with a fresh install on at least two phones, one recent and one a few years old. That gap tells us a lot about how well the game runs for people who don't upgrade every year. Battery drain and heat get noted too, because those matter more than framerate charts on mobile.

Then we just play. Not in a focused review sprint, but in the messy way people actually play phone games: on the couch, on transit, half-distracted. That's the only way to learn whether a game is still fun on day three or whether it's already asking too much of you.

Only after all that do we argue about a rating. And they are arguments, because subjective scores should be defended, not handed down. If a number ends up on a review here, at least two of us fought over it.
